With the goal of expanding our tool set in mind, we wanted to try making a card game next. The thought was if we recreated something we knew the rules of already, we could spend more time implementing mechanics.
We chose a South African backpacker game called Schnaai or Sh*thead (it’s name varies). We had played it for years in both small and large groups, including pvp. We knew it was fun, or at least that we enjoyed it, and we knew the mechanics off by heart.

Usually Vai and I split up the work load more evenly between visual design and game design, but this was more of a co-learning and working-it-out-together jam.
At the end of the day there wasn’t much custom art, but I did briefly explore drawing card effects which gave us a solid design direction, and you could win and lose playing a game against the computer.
