I had been toying with the beginning of a cozy environmental sim, and it seemed like a good fit to try the mechanic out in. I was using a well made asset pack by Cup Nooble which allowed me to focus on learning how to make characters and tilemaps properly rather than creating assets myself.
This taught me a lot about what I needed for sprites and tilemaps to function nicely, both as a dev and a game artist, and can’t stress enough how impactful using well made tools and assets can be when you’re learning.
